It's Liliw Tsinelas Festival once again! April 26 - May 2, 2010 will be a whole week of celebration and festivities to showcase Liliweno's best craft, making tsinelas! Liliw is best known for its trendy and quality yet affordable shoes, sandals and slippers. Thus, the reason this festival was initiated in 2004 by our former mayor, Jun Polistico. One of his legacies indeed to our home town that helps promotes and attracts more tourists and consumers.
As Liliweño myself, this is one of the events that I always look forward to in my home town. During this whole-week festival... shops and even houses in Gat Tayaw Street are well-decorated with colorful tsinelas much like the Pahiyas of Lucban, Quezon. It's always nice to see how creative and hardworking my fellow kababayan are.
Some of the usual happenings during the festival are street dancing by students from elementary and high schools, parade of few small floats by store owners, street party at night, mutya ng liliw pageant, and a lot more.
I'm already excited to go home this weekend to be part of this festival! Come join us and see you at the street party! =)
